Serbian lessons in Bergen, Norway

Serbian language school “Vuk Karadžić” is taking place every Saturday in Bergen, Norway. It has been situated in school “Slettebakken”. The students has been divided into pre-school and school groups. The aim of the school is to teach children their mother tongue. Besides the lessons, the creative teachers are motivating pupils to prepare drama and folklore shows.

Furthermore, there is an online Serbian language school via internet platform “itslearning“ (https://serb.itslearning.com/). It is meant for children who are not able to attend the school. The idea is that the school expands through the whole Norway (or farther), because most of the children are already using the internet platform and they are only one click away from interesting exercises in Serbian language. A number of adult Norwegians are also attending the lessons. 

Ćirilijada has been used in teaching and has been very well accepted by the students and teachers.

Thanks to the journalist Nikolina Milatović-Popović, a text about website/portal Slovce has been published on the website of Serbian Government - the office for cooperation with the diaspora and Serbs in the region. The text presents briefly the concept of the site Slovce. It gives a short overview about the issues available for free download on the site as well as online lessons of Serbian language.

Online Serbian lessons

Internet offers new possibilities such as distance learning. Online language lessons are now available for Serbian language as well. Since lots of Serbian language schools abroad are closing down, teachers cannot be paid, it is not easy to find a Serbian language teacher in your neighborhood due to limited offers, internet offers you the possibility to get in touch with the language teachers that can be as well in Serbia as abroad.

Advantage of online lessons
There are several advantages, such as:

• You can have a private lesson or in a small group with a reasonable price
• Lessons are organized when it suits you and the teacher
• You can work from home

All you need is a computer, fast internet and one of the free programs (such as messenger)  to communicate for free with you teacher. Look up for your teacher on the map (marked with a purpule camera) or in the ads.
